Here's something, not exactly a 'trick' per say, but it makes editing programs easier. If you have MirageOS and the tasker hooks installed, hitting [APPS]+[ON] starts Mirage from anywhere in the OS, and hitting [ALPHA]+[ON] uses APD to turn the calc off. Most probably already know this, but it's not in here, so...

Anyways, when editing a program, turning it off normally causes it to go back to the homescreen when you turn it back on, but if you let it APD, it will stay right where you left it--thus, using [ALPHA]+[ON] turns it off and when you turn it back on, you are right where you left off, so you don't have to scroll through your entire program.

Hope that this helps some people.

If you have ALPHA / APPS + ON checked when you hit [ALPHA][v][v][v][2nd], then yes.

well, it functions exactly like APD does; that is, it turns off your calculator and when you turn it back on, you go back to where you were, unless it's the graph screen. I don't know if it was actually implemented using the APD; I doubt it, but I don't know all the specifics of the situation.

It's also similar to the diamond+on function of the TI-89.

I was just speculating it was APD, because it had the same behavior. It worked for me on the graph screen.

If you have OmniCalc and RAM Recovery enabled, then hitting [ON]+[ALPHA] (note [ON] comes first), then this is a quick way to back up your project Very Happy.

EDIT: Oops, I guess it isn't...why not?!?! WHY?!?!

Although this really isn't the place to have this discussion, watch out for Omnicalc's RAM recovery. The problem with it is that in making a backup of the RAM, it makes a backup of the VAT also, which contains a list of the existing variables (including programs, etc.).
If the variables in question were in RAM, they will be restored along with the VAT during RAM recovery. But if you had variables in the archive, then the VAT entries will be restored, so your calculator will think they still exist, but nothing will be done to the actual files.
The reverse will happen with files in the archive just before RAM recovery - the files will still be there, but not the VAT entries. I'm pretty sure there's a way to fix that and get the OS to rebuild the VAT, though.

I think a RAM clear will do the trick but I'm not positive. I had the feeling there's some other trick that I'm not aware of.

after an hour and a half on the computer, going through 3 years of posts, I compiled all (or most) instructions into a word document. If there is something I didn't list, post it.

You should be able to read it anyway, either with wordpad or with any text editor if you ignore the first few lines.

Nevertheless, here is the converted file (I also made some corrections and in the .rtf version, made code bold).

I don't think anyone minds, and in any case, there's no single person responsible for them. TI-Basic Developer (which NEEDS a good abbreviation) is a good place to put them.
