If you have a graphics card made by ati, please do not upgrade to catalyst version 4.1. I just reinstalled windows on my computer, and installed this. It has problems playing wmv9 files. 90% of all the movies I own (at least 150dvds worth) would barely play at all. The colors were inverted, and everything was blotchy, no matter what I played it with. Divx actually was the only program I have that produced a clear picture on some movies, but there was no sound :\. Anyways, go with the beta of 4.9, stay away from 4.1. In case you're wondering if this will effect you, here's my stats:

ATI Radeon 9600XT
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Overclocked to 3200+)
1 gig PC3200 (2 512's)
DirectX 9.0C

If anyone else has problems with this also, please reply, im curious how many people this effects.

You are most likely haveing an isolated incedent. Surely the no sound issue has nothing to do with your ATI card.

Please, doublecheck your drivers, run widnows update, and update to media player 10.

Tell us how that works out.

Try downloading the AC3 drivers if you want sound in divx.

It's not an isolated incident. Here's one forum of many that talks about this problem:

I have every driver installed. Latest divx, ac3, ogg, eeeeverything.

Just ran windows update 2 days ago. I now have every single update.
