There are some REALLY good asm resources out there, but no one wants to have to search!

To save you the trouble of searching:

Sean's TI in 28 days tutorial:
http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/filei.../268/26877.html
Best ASM tutorial I've seen!
Update 04/18/2005:
Due to some updates ticalc.org has done, this, and any subsequent ticalc.org links will not work correctly. They used to allow linking like this, but it seems as though they have disabled it to try to save their bandwidth. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

CoBB's Z80 tutorial on ticalc.org:
http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/filei.../208/20890.html
Never used this one, but heard its really good!
Update 04/18/2005:
Wonderful! Absolutely love this great tutorial. CoBB is a genious.

CoBB's own site:
http://cobb.host.sk/
(His tutorial is around there somewhere too, right along with the fastest line routine you'll ever see, but his host is currently [currently, meaning '6/24/2003'] down, so I can't locate the link for you)
Update 04/18/2005:
http://cobb.host.sk/z80guide/
This is the direct link to his guide. Enjoy Smile (I know I do Razz)

Cirrus (now part of United-TI) also had some good tutorials, but the two tutorials above are sufficient in combination with the SDK (cirrus's SDK found here).
http://cirrus.tigalaxy.com/asmresources.htm
Update 04/18/2005:
Cirrus is down (maybe for good... seems as though tigalaxy gave up.), and so these links are only here for the sake of completeness... Please conduct a moment of silence in your homes, or your happy places. If anyone has a link to a permanent mirror, please do share.

Speaking of which:

The SDK covering some of the 83+ architecture. Not very useful unless you already know a lot of ASM (tutorials above):
http://education.ti.com/downloads/pdf/us/s...sdk83pguide.pdf
To save this one to your hard drive, right click the link, click 'Save Target As...', and save it where you want it...

The document with the specs on the system routines (all the rom calls/bcalls):
http://education.ti.com/downloads/pdf/us/8...sysroutines.pdf
To save this one to your hard drive, right click the link, click 'Save Target As...', and save it where you want it...

Hope that helps anyone searching!

NOTE : WITHOUT THE HELP OF Job the GameQuitter THESE TUTORIALS WOULDN'T BE HERE, SO IF YOU WANT TO THANK SOMEONE, THANK HIM!

And for all you Mac users out there!

http://www.rit.edu/~alj8314/caz.shtml
Thank you Jedd for this awesome link!

Adm. Wiggin, I forgot to tell you, there is a link to "unsupported" bcalls on the TI website. Why they're called undocumented while the TI dudes give links to them themselves is beyond me, but who cares, right?

I agree, ASM in 28 days was the only tutorial that I could figure out. I am going through it currently and will see how good I am at ASM when I'm done.

You said that because you like 83pa28d.
It's probably fine for the 83, but I froze my calculator several times before even figuring that out, so I hate it to.

CoBB absolutely despises it. Seems that he's the most likely among all of us to know what he's talking about.

Well sorta, unless you're a beginner who has a TI-83+ and doesn't realize it's not cross compatible, and gets frustrated quickly when NOTHING works, no matter how many times you try and end up abandoning the language. Mad

I agree. I learned the basics with 83pa28d, and looked at ASM guru to further my knowledge of file handling. None of the examples worked. its confusing because he goes into using routines that he got from other sources that arent even explained. It basically throws some source at you, and a little bit of commentary at the bottom. Teach yourself. I am still beginner in asm, but I can at least make a functional program now because of the expertise of the people at this board who have helped when I have had even the most stupid questions, namely Justin W.

A better ASM tutorial is needed. Maybe one should be made by UnitedTI that is for the TI-83+.

I don't think you can get any better than 83pa28d when it comes to 83+ assembly. I'm certainly not going into specific calculator stuff in my guide... But people could make good use of some docs discussing game programming techniques.
