I thought that VTI 2.5 could only handle ROM 1.03 or less for the 83+, I don't want an 83, I have never seen a ROM version that low, and, finally, I'm going to by an 84 (SE?) soon.

VTI 2.5 Beta 5 can handle ROM 1.12 and lower for the 83 Plus (that was the current version when it was released). I have seen 1.03 for the 83 Plus once, but that was a while ago. It was on someone's calculator that was rather old.

Anyway, the school calculators are all 1.13, relatively new, so that's out.

Depends on the calc. How long does it take to check?

[MODE] + [ALPHA] + [S] should give you the ROM version on non-flash calculators. Though VTI 2.5 should work with any 83 ROM.

You don't want to get a ROM from a school calc then?

Don't forget to press [ON] afterwards.

A calc is easier than VTI to use.
