Does anyone know how to put your program in the APPS sections of the calculator(ie. ti-83+ the blue button)? Thank you.

You can't put programs in the applications menu, only applications will reside there.

If you already know assembly you can get development tools and sign your own application.

Applications are ROM based programs. They take up a minimum of 16384 bytes of Flash ROM. They cannot have self-modifying code. An application is compiled into hex and 'signed' with a key that identifies it as an application to the calc.

The key is a data file that is added onto the application during the signing process.

You might want to research a little on programming as well.

yeah, you cant just copy and paste nostub to an app because an ap runs from archive and anything used by rom calls that arent passed through registers have to be copied to ram (the data for _Puts or _VPuts, for example)

You people are getting all technical on the poor guy.

This is just the old fallacy that the APPS button is the equivalent to the Windows Start menu and if it's not in APPS you can't do anything with it. I blame TI, who often enough markets the calculator as a platform for Flash Apps when the Flash Apps are really just extra stuff added onto what is already a fully featured system.

Nor does it help that anywhere else, the words "program" and "application" are synonymous.

Basic programs are found in the PRGM menu and are run from the PRGM menu. These have been around since before Flash ROM. (Note that the original 83 has a PRGM button but not an APPS button.)

Assembly programs use the same file type as basic program, and thus are also found in the PRGM menu. Most need to be run via a shell. These have also been around since before Flash ROM.

Flash Applications are a different file type, can only reside in the Flash ROM, and are run from the APPS menu.

To sum up, if something's not in the APPS menu, it's not supposed to be, but you can still use it.

Amazing how much it takes to show why you state something. All that for the final statement.

I still think one should read up on programming for apps before actually trying to make one though.
