Yeah, there would be bit rate issues, but I think most calc models transfer at 9600 bps anyway. The alternative would to be use self-clocking RC5 encoding ("Manchester" modulation) like the TV remotes do. That way, the data itself would act as its own clock signal and allow for faster/slower bit rates. The sami.ticalc version appears to use AM in it's receiver, so the RC5 stuff could be done on the controlling software end. You could also try RECS80 (also used by some TV remotes), but that won't be self-clocking.

put the electronics in the empty spot behind the screen, and just have 2 wires coming out somewhere to connect to the LED. that way all you need to carry arround extra is a IR led. Or if you plan to cheat, but let's not go there.

How do you disable the warn bar? Anyways, wouldn't the ir link need a new prog. , or something to be accessed? Anyone made a prototype?

I'm gonna try to finish an IR prototype sometime this month (in addition to a power expander project). I don't think there'll be enough room behind the calc screen because of all the components needed (usless you make a customized PCB board and use surface-monted parts only).

How come others don't have it?

EDIT: Tell me if this is true or not.

They do, you just can't see them. I believe only staff members can.

That's not fair. I hope that accessing IR link cable is the same as accessing regular links.

Whoever said it was fair?

As far as I know, a special program is needed to access IR links as the routines are not coded into the Operating System. So there probably won't be much similarities... But I've never built one, so I can't say for sure. (Although I do have plans to.)

I don't even understand everything about the layout. If someone told me what to buy and build with, my dad (manager of a car customizer company) could probably solder and do whatever to make it. (Reason why I can't: My mom won't allow me. I'm too young. Sad )

*points and laughs* Laughing

Actually, my mom wouldn't feel comfortable about me doing that either, especially with little kids around. That's why I go to a friends house to do it. Laughing

Lucky you. Will it cost a lot? Cause possibly I could make a prototype provided someone gives me a plan.

About $20 per unit, if memory serves correctly. Then again, the information is about a year or two old... Prices may have gone up.

Darn. Good thing it isn't really expensive. I'll attempt a prototype soon.

**Looks at warnings and laugh at person** (Moderators and administrators doing this)

Just kidding. Do you do that though?
