Please note that the 89's memory status varies with the operating system installed. After 2.05, the memory summary given is correct. Previous to that, however, there were approximately 64K more in Flash ROM and a few more K free in RAM.
Also, Doors is an extremely outdated kernel. Version 0.98 is not the latest, either. It had to be updated to 0.99 in order to work with AMS 2.05. You can find that at the Doors Home Page.
Also note that another kernel worth mentioning is Universal OS. It is outdated, however.
AMS 2.06 was never released to the public. It was meant for testing on the V200. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I remember.) |

[post="69840"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post] Possibly because many 89 programs, even assembly, are nostub, and easy to run without one. |

True dat.
"2.06 - Internal development version for the Voyage 200, not publically released."
http://technicalc.org/tifaq/?glossary.htm
My fault.
Also, for the version of DoorsOS II, I went with the most current version that I could find on ticalc; it makes a lot more sense to go to the actual website (d'oh)... |

No worries on the DoorsOS. I mean, not many people think of going to the actual home site to see what's there. I only did it because DoorsOS was my first kernel and I had to make it work on AMS 2.05... |

[83+]
ROM versions: also 1.19, now
83+ SE, 84+ (SE):
Total RAM: 131k (131072 bytes)
Usually only 32768 is used, but it has a total of eight RAM pages which usually go unused. Some programs such as Emu8x and Omnicalc use some of these for data storage. USB activity tends to erase these, but that can be avoided with a USB hook.

So now that DCS is becoming an app, is it an official shell yet? |

on the 84+'s its now up to ROM version 2.40 (as was well publicized due to that new "feature"...) |

I noticed that when the stats of the 86 were up, the exact number of bytes wasn't listed, just for correction purposes, every 86 I've used (ROM v. 1.3, 1.4, and 1.6) have 98226 bytes of RAM. So I don't see why TI and everyone else claims it has 96k, seeing as how it has approx. 98k (by default, I assume). And as far as compatibility of shells with different ROM versions, on 1.4, mario v.0.91 (by Bill Nagel) caused it to crash when you exit using rascall (latest version).
P.S.- If you need info on the 86, feel free to ask, I wouldn't quite consider myself an "expert", but I know quite a bit..... |

1 KB = 1,024 B
98,226 B / 1,024 B/KB = 95.92382813 KB ~= 96 KB
Q.E.D.

Quote: 1 KB = 1,024 B
Is this because 2^10 with 2 representing the possibility of 1 or 0 and therefore the exact ammount of memory to the switch? I've been wondering... |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_prefix
Until it was define kibibyte, it was usually consider a kilobyte = 1000 bytes when it comes to disk storage, and it equals 1024 bytes when talking about memory. Now Solid State Storage presents a conundrum. |

I use a TI-83+ (hmmm, what an archaic guy am i?)
I think DoorCS is the best, unlike MirageOS and Ion, you can open TI-OS ASM programs (or TI-BASIC if you like)
It is a program, not a Apps, but, even though, is it considered a shell, it does almost anything (locking, unlocking, arc/unarc, copy, rename, alouette)?

Actually, the latest version is an App and all future versions will be as well. I'm sure Kerm will be happy for the support. |

Is there a complete list of calc shells / libraries somewhere for all TI models 73 through Voyage 200?
This is something I could make use of right about now, not just a list of what they are, but links to where they can be obtained as well.

Well, most would be located on ticalc.org, in their appropriate spots, plus DCS which Kerm has not released to ticalc.org yet, but can be obtained via http://dcs.cemetech.net .
If you want, I can work on that list tonight, when I have some time. Would you want the file info pages on ticalc, or the site that actually built the shell/library? |
