Heh, this is far from dead kalan_vod. I have coded a lot in Latin Class, made a lot for the fighting engine, the shops and the new map system.

I am working on another basic project too though.. you will hear from that after the contest ends.

No, the basic program he was talking about was the contest entry. The 'secret RPG' was in BASIC though...

No, unless he has access to a computer in Latin / knows the menemonics by heart... I think this is BASIC.

If you were actually paying attention.. It's all over the place that it's z80 application assembly. I write the code on a piece of paper in Latin class, and then copy it over on to the compy. Most of the code is untested though...

Yes, you will be hearing about that later..

Secret RPG? You mean that joke with Drak? haha Razz, i've never had a secret RPG :)

Brazucs: It was Basic+Codex more than a year ago, when it still took 30 seconds to load a screen.

Probably.

Is it the new fad or something to have your RPG have a minigame?

It is very common for rpg's across all platforms to have some sort of minigame as it breaks up the main game as to prevent it from becoming monotonous, thus causing the player to lose interest.

true, but perhaps future RPGs should involve really really tiny changes in gameplay throughout the game, just to turn the tables. Twists are always good; they make things more difficult. They'd also change the pace a bit, forcing the player to kind of rethink strategy. Then again, that's why you create so many different types of enemies.

although many good RPGs do include minigames, i fail to find a minigame that is less monotonous than the game itself. they either get really boring really quickly, or they are just really dumb. maybe one day a minigame will actually distract you from the rest of the game.

That's probably because i didn't make it Razz

i had to remake the text though, and i made some ITG style arrows for the game. It will be quite different from Kevins DDR, both in graphics and in style.

A reason why i like minigames is that if i dont finish the game, at least i have some good minigames that might look good as a stand-alone game.
