Well guys, good news. I have re-uploaded Contra onto my calculator and have began work on it again. All I have to do is decide on an ending sequence and then finalize the level editor/install program, and I should be ok.

Once my cousin played it w/o any knowledge of my program and he said it was awesome, I decided that it was only fair to resume work on it.

I love that game, it really addicts my friends at school.

But I am working hard on it and I should have it finished shortly. Thank you again for understanding my inactivity. Very Happy

lol yeah guys, I was just messing around and my friend was like bryan put me on level 6 and make me be able to shoot the whole screen length, haha so I did he could kill like 3 enemies spred across the screen with one shot. it was awesome. Very Happy

I think that a final boss is not possible, it so far has consumed over 2000 mem and i dont liek how it works, therefore I think that when you get to level 6 frame 9, I will just make a movie of you finding/saving your brother.

I think its the best thing to do.

Are you guys ok with that? Sad

Yeah...an ending movie would be cool and easier/less memory consuming than doing the final boss probably! You could also do as Sir Robin suggested...alas, it is up for you to decide! Laughing

i haven't seen it, but it's my opinion that any 96x64 (or 95x63 in basic) monochrome movie without sound isn't worth watching.

Some movies are pretty impressive, like the opening to Donkey Kong and few others. But game without a final boss is like a movie with no climax. But then, it also depends on which option would make better use of the RAM.

Well guys,

What shall i do ? i mean I could just use the same boss but just boost his life but the only thing wrong is that every level the boss gets bigger however, at stage 5, he is at his maximum hieght. So if I made him at frame 6 he would be the same height and just wouldnt look cool.

I think the way I am going now is the best thing to do. when I say movie I dont mean using like all these pictures and lines and stuff, im just talking about something where it shows a normal frame and just you picking up your brother and teleporting away, I think that as hard as level 6 is, a boss would not matter that much, but I dont know, if you guys say you dont like it that way then I am kinda of torn on what to do.

please tell me what your impression would be on both of these possibilites

Not having a final battle of some kind is really annoying, maybe you could make a little cut scene before level 6 ("the final battle...") and make it unique from the other levels so it's kind of like the entire level is the ending sequence/boss/thing.

Well,

That actually isnt to bad of an idea arcane, but I think it might be best to just make the same boss but just rig it so hes alot stronger in the last frame, adding a whole new boss just adds to much memory, so I will probably just use the same one. And then after you kill him you then find your brother.

I just finished unifying the teleportation animation so it works with one program instead of having different code for warping out, and warping in. I can warp anywhere from anywhere now, so I will probably use some of that in my final movie.

Im also working on getting all my subroutines into one subroutine, it would still require znme, but i could shorten it down to 3 sub total programs i think. Very Happy

Very Happy Well guys AWESOME news,

I successfully made the teleportation routine so I can teleport anywhere anytime so I may use that in the final frame.

The bigger news is that the 9 programs that Contra needed to operate, are no longer nescessary. I have successfully combined 7 subroutines into one, meaning that Contra currently only has 3 programs inn order for it to run. There is minor speed differences, but it is where they are not needed, the main loop was not touched therefore the gameplay is still the same.

But I am very pleased with how I programmed all of this, thus I wil continue to work hard. Very Happy

:D guess what guys, i have got alot of work done on the boss, i decided to make the regular boss look different at the end, so i could use the same programming but just add graphics to him. i also made him shoot 3x as farther and have a lot more health. so i think that i finally chose the proper thing to do for the boss. everything is going well as far as work on contra. if this keeps up, itll be done very soon.
