Alright, this dial-up internet has been getting to be. There are a lot of big files I'd like to download, but I never have a chance to be connected long enough. Do any of you know of any good free download managers. Heck, it could even be a bad free one. I don't need anything fancy, just the ability to resume a download. Are any of these very popular or more well known than others?
i've used Download Accelerator Plus back when i had dial-up
its got ads but it works
watch out though, i think i've heard it comes with adware now, so you might want to avoid it

I've used something of CNet's ("Secure Download"? something like that); I don't know how well it does with interrupted DLs thoug.
Flashgot is by far the best download manager. I used it back when I had shitty interuppted Internet, and it handles everything perfectly. http://www.flashgot.net/getit

why wouldn't it be? what do you think "streaming media" is if not just a stream of data to your comp? how is writing it to a file any different than displaying it to the screen?
Btw, 'wget' can do that too, and is probably the best downloader ever....(but its not really a download manager, so its probably not the best choice)

Isn't flashgot just download manager browser integration?
Yes, it can be integrated into Firefox, which is very nice.
