This has gotten a lot of play elsewhere in the interwebs, but as I haven't seen a mention here, I thought I'd bring it up.

MIT is prototyping it's first circuits course online, with free enrollment.

If you are interested in electronics, this would be a way to get a good understanding of the basics. It will probably be pretty dry to go through, but you should get a good understanding of the basics.
