For the purposes of a program that I am writing, which extracts a package of files, I need a way to backup a preexisting file, should it be overwritten. For instance, when extracting a program called TRET, if TRET already exists, it needs to be moved somewhere else, temporarily. The same for Pics, GDB's, and Strings and other data types. Where can I put these? Any ideas?
You could create an appvar of the same name but with the first character changed to a normally invalid character, so you can be pretty sure it hadn't existed before.
Prompt if it should be ovewritten. The user can decide whether to keep it.
