Some excellent points there, Lionel; we'll see what they've come up with. I hope that they haven't closed the holes, but as you say, it's not likely.

Critor, nifty, thanks for keeping us posted on this! It seems likely that this is indeed a color calculator; I'm still a bit confused about the whole "clam shell" thing, because that implies QWERTY keyboard, and TI knows that the College Board doesn't allow QWERTY calcs...

First TI-Nspire CX photos uploaded to TI-Bank!

TI-Nspire CX Docking Station + TI-Nspire CX top connectors -> http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=967

Have fun!
It's less amazingly-ugly than the original TI-Nspire, without that hideous bulge at the LCD area! Thanks for sharing, critor. What's the source, though? How do we know these aren't renders someone whipped up? Smile

Ahh, I see, thanks for that. I'm not seeing any hint of a clamshell design, though. Smile Also, I'm trying to decide if that keypad would work with an 84+/SE and/or is switchable with an 84+/SE keypad.
So far, nobody seems to have seen a way to switch keyboards on those photos/renders Sad

To proportion, the screen looks smaller: http://ourl.ca/9268/176370
I saw a picture on ti-bank. and I retract my statement, it looks like it has a removable keyboard
Qazz, can you be more specific about how the keyboard looks removable to you? Lionel, same here, although hopefully that just means it has higher pixel density rather than lower resolution.
there is a crease in-between the arrow-pad and where the numbers are. I think that means the keypad can bee removed. It is totally possible that it is just for battery switching...

Oooh, I'm totally seeing what you're saying. The color of the dark navy blue plastic changes slightly at that line, and there seem to be some rounded edges indicating different pieces at that point.
It doesn't prove anything and I can't be sure on such a photo, but I cannot see a keypad locking switch on the back of the TI-Nspire CX:

well, it is only a side view, if we coudl get a good back view the nthat would prove it once and for all

perhaps there is an in-built 84 emulator?

If it does use that same 3.0 OS as the other TI-Nspire, then it has the built in 84+ emulator.

But it might just be unusable on those models...
I'm very saddened by the apparent lack of a 2.5mm I/O connector, but if they've chosen to just include USB emulation and will indeed have a TI-84+/SE emulator in the Nspire CX, all the more reason for me to develop Direct USB gCn...
Wait, there's no serial port on the CX?

Not that I can see, unless I overlooked something. I see mini-USB, viewscreen connector, and a notch on the side labeled "attachment" that seems to be for the wireless module.
Sad

My thoughts exactly. This is one piece of evidence that adds to the chance that TI won't be providing TI-84+/SE emulation on the Nspire CX, which would be an absolute travesty.
Well, I mean a built in emulator but with no switching keypads Very Happy
Qazz, that's a possibility I thought of as well. It looks like it wouldn't be horrible to try to use that keypad as a TI-84+/SE; I see a lot of common keys.
