Wrong. Assuming that they do this in the U.S., they are basically making the Nspire the "top" calc. Even on the foreign pages, they basically point to the Nspire for the new calc.
Of course they do! It's *is* there newest model. They put a lot of money and time into the Nspire and whether or not it suits your purposes they are going to promote it as there top model.

Don't get me wrong, they may discontinue the 83+/84+ series tomorrow, but they haven't and I don't think they will (though obviously what I think in this case doesn't matter).

Well, you do realize that they're still trying to knock things down for TI Nspire, right? Razz Of course it's not the end of Z80s; however, it certainly isn't comforting to see the top of the Z80s fall either.

what about the ti-84? no one has said anything about it...

Basic TI-84+ is still in production.

This confirms the discontinuation of the TI-84+SE is to force users to buy basic TI-Nspire.
Yeah, I was wondering about the normal 84+ myself. It seems to me that Discontinued would imply that they stop manufacturing the calculators in question, no?

Edit: Critor, thanks for checking those out. I think it's clear that something is happening with the z80 calculator line, and although I'd prefer it was the TI-87+SE being announced, I don't think that's realistic at this point. Sad
Sad

sad, I hate how they are trying to push the nspire

y not push the TI-89T?
Will the Nspires still have TI84 keypads?

If so, this day might not be so bad...
nope

It seems like they're trying to phase that out as well, as Qazz said. A sad day, I think. :*(

3 other official sites don't list the TI-84+SE any more, although they used to list it up to now accorging to the pages cached in the Internet wayback machine:
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/DANMARK/productCategory/dk_graphing.html
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/ESPANA/productCategory/es_graphing.html
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/SVERIGE/productCategory/se_graphing.html

Another official site don't list the TI-84+SE, but I couldn't find a cached page:
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/AUS-NZ/sectionHome/aus-nz_product_graphing.html

I'm afraid, but something bad is happening and it's not an error...
At least 7 official TI web pages are either saying the TI-84+SE production has been stopped, either not listing that model any more Bad Idea
well, as long as there are still 84+'s and 83's i dont see stuff dying out quite as soon as some people where thinking

But if they're not going to manufacturer and market them anymore, it's only a matter of time before stores and sites will no longer be selling them, in my opinion.
Walmart still sells 83+'s

Whoa, really? I'm a bit surprised, considering that I think TI hasn't produced the calculator for half a decade.
So I bought mine just in time then? Good for me.

Good for you indeed, although I'm sure there will be slowly-dwindling supplies of TI-83+ through TI-84+SE calculator around for a long time. I still haven't heard anything concrete about the TI-84; does anyone have any ideas about it?

No clue, but if anything I would've thought it'd be discontinued before the silver edition.
Sorry, I meant TI-84+ there, but I see that you figured it out anyway. I would have thought so too, but I haven't seen anything to indicate that that is indeed the case yet.
Sad

ah well, perhaps it wont affect America..
It probably will, considering most TI users live in America.
