Hello,
Thank you for contacting Texas Instruments.
It is very unfortunate that the display on your TI-84 Plus Silver
Edition cracked. Your TI-84 Plus Silver Edition is covered by a one year
warranty based upon the date of purchase. It is warranted against
defective materials or workmanship. This warranty is void if the product has
been damaged by accident, unreasonable use, neglect, improper service, or
other causes not arising from defects in material or workmanship.
Based on the information you have provided, your TI-84 Plus Silver
Edition will be considered out of warranty.
I will be more than happy to email you information regarding service.
Before I can do so, I will need you to reply with the following
information (U.S.A. only):
- Your first and last name
- Your complete mailing address
- Your phone number
Once I receive the information above, I will email you information
regarding service/service charge. I will also issue you a RMA (Return
Material Authorization) number, which is the number the service center will
need to reference when replacing your calculator.
If you do not reside in the U.S., please reply with the name of the
country that you reside in so that I can email you information regarding
instructional product dealers. Instructional product dealers in or
around your country can give you information regarding repair/service.
I await your reply.
Regards,
Esmeralda Diaz

Name:
Type of Service: WarRepair
Product Group: GrphHH
Product: TI-84 Plus or TI-84 Plus Silver Edition
Purchase Date: 09/2005
Customer Type: Student
Product Serial#: XXXXXXXXX-04050
Comments: I bought a TI-84+SE four days ago, and today I accidentally
dropped it quite softly from about 3 feet. The slidecase was on, but
the screen cracked along the upper right and the bottom half of the
screen is completely blank even when the calculator is powered on.
Otherwise it appears to work correctly. Since I bought it so recently, is
there any way I could get it repaired or replaced without spending another
$135? Thank you very much in advance.

Yeah, I figured something like that was coming. Threaten to go HP or Casio for your next calc if they at least don't repair it/replace it, even if they charge you. It is amazing what a cometitor can do for you.
How about if I play up my support of them in the past, ie being the most proficient programmer for their most popular line of calculators thus inducing other people to buy calcs to use my programs???
I think they corner the market mostly by encouraging schools to require their calcs...sorry Kerm, but I don't think that's going to work.
Probably not more than about $67. Anything above that is more than half the cost of the calc and would be pointless.
Probably true. TI gets military contracts for things like missile guidance systems, which are worth slightly more than $135. I don't think one dropped calc and one more HPer is something they'll really care about.
