Its not all that bad - I just beat it (between my initial post and now I mean)
This wasn't the first time I've played it, though, so I still remembered how to avoid the "what the hell? Screw this game" parts
I found Super Mario Forever to be harder; in that game it's a lot harder to avoid the wtf? moments than in Syobon Action (although that game has some interesting wtf? moments).

That's horrible ad placement, although I can see why "intelligent" ad-targetting would have come up with that.
