isn't this cool!?

but i do have a question..
HOW DOES IT WORK!?
What the hell are you talking about? Link?

THIS!!!

THEY RELEASED IT AT E3!!!

apparently, the screen is suppose to be capable of 3D WITHOUT 3D glasses!!!!

so i wonder... HOW DOES IT WORK!?
http://e3.nintendo.com/3ds/

oh... and the reason i am soooooo excited is because i have a DS lite
Ooh ok, because it's ND3DS, not ND 3D, which is why it was confusing.

And yes I can't wait to get one, providing it won't cost like $500 on launch

and that the nice acekards and R4 works on it too XD

oops... yeah... i meat to say unveil... Razz
I assume it's probably auto-stereography. Makes the most sense. Although, since I haven't really seen the N3DS's 3D, I can't say for sure.

hha...

so does anyone know how it works?
cause i really can't think of a logical explanation for this technology...

unless its something like this?

Wiki has you covered: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autostereoscopy

Its like those old toys that when you tilted it side to side the picture you saw changed. Only instead of both eyes being refracted to see the same image, each eye receives a different image. The downside is that the focus range is narrow. However, since its a handheld device and not something like a TV or monitor, that isn't as much of a problem.

That article doesn't really specify if it's using lenticular lenses or parallax barriers, Kllrnohj; do you happen to know any specifics? I was assuming it was the same type of zigzag lens over the screen as in those head-shifting image-changing illusions that you mentioned.
I'm more interested in the technology Microsoft have been developing - video here.
I dont know much of anything about hardware, but have a theory that you may be able to refract light with a REALLY low wavelength to create a more distinguishable 3d illusion. this talk makes me want to 3d-ify my desktop. I saw it in a mag yesterday.

Could you give us a link to an article about this? It sounds like an interesting idea, but there's only so low-wavelength you can go with light before it's not light anymore.
Could the screen be working similar to how it is explained in this document?
Just LOOK AT THIS

This Game, the ND3DS....

do want.
Meh, I don't really see the appeal. I feel like the whole 3D thing is just going to be a gimmick that's going to fade out fairly quickly.
Those dual cameras alone are a tempting buy for me. Just, they're VGA +/
There isn't an article about my theory Kerm, i just brainstormed of it about 2 years ago when someone asked me how I was going to project 3d images on I game system I drew.

Thought it looked pretty cool.
