I have been working on a Harry Potter game that resembles the one that I have for Gameboy Color. Please post comments about what I have done so far (see the screenshot below). Note that the second spell that I use (Flipendo 2) actually looks like a tornado on my calculator, but the emulator messed it up.

So far, I have programmed in 5 enemies (though the current map data only allows you to battle two of them), and 3 map locations. The map locations shown will most likely not have enemies available to fight. There are also only 3 spells, all of which have animations and are shown in the screenshot.

Eventually, I will add something to resemble Harry, and possibly better graphics for the enemies. I will also add a lot more spells (all of those available in the regular game) and wizard cards, as well as equipable items.

What are your thoughts on the game so far? I might make the game come with two graphical options; one version uses ASCII characters for everything, as shown, and the better version would be similar to Harrier's Metroid Pi (i.e. combinations of two ASCII characters), with sprites? for the enemies.

Thanks for any feedback in advance!

EDIT: The screenshot runs a bit faster in the emulator than oncalc.
ooohh....ahhhhh......special.....very special....

I like how the battles go, but could you show Harry on the battle screen? It would look better.
Follow this link to actually download the program, which includes a more updated version of the program.

I will add some type of graphic for Harry during the battles; most likely a simple picture of a person drawn using line & pxl-on commands, but I totally forgot about that Laughing

I would really like to know what people think about the puzzles as well; are they too hard? Too easy?
