Title: Jing
Rating: 8/10
Description: Allows the user to take screenshots or video screen captures of what's on their screen. Jing can be set to automatically upload screenshots/videos to an online sharing site.
Pros:
- Automatic uploading of pics/vids for easy sharing.
- Free =D
[EDIT] - Can add annotations, arrows, and free-hand lines to any screenshot you take before saving. Useful for pointing out or circling something in a screenshot.
Cons:
- Videos can only be up to 5 minutes long.
- Must register for Jing to use the software (registry is free though).

Title: VLC Media Player
Rating: 9/10
Description: All purpose media player.
Pros:
- Can play virtually any audio or video file. No need for messing with codecs.
Cons:
- Windows 7's media player does this if I remember correctly so VLC is kind of less awesome now.
- VLC also will occasionally hate AVI files and not play them properly.

Description: A lightweight media player for Windows.
Pros:
- Looks like Rhythmbox
- Open source
- Lightweight
- Works with removable media
- Not Apple
Cons:
- Makes the Windows 'ding' sound when choosing an artist (WTF?)
- Can't map hotkeys to a gamepad.

Title: PowerStrip
Rating: 9/10
Description: Tweak your video card settings beyond the capabilities offered by the native drivers. Override monitor refresh rates.
Pros:
- Easy to configure.
- Can be controlled from the command-line and provides a simple API; useful for scripts.
Cons:
- Shareware, though it is very cheap.

Title: ReClock
Rating: 9/10
Description: DirectShow filter that allows you to adjust the framerate of video.
Pros:
- Automatically inserts itself into the graph in place of standard renderers, so will work with any sane Windows media software.
- When coupled with ReClock, allows you to play back films without irritating motion judder.
- Can run scripts to automatically change the monitor refresh rate (eg with PowerStrip) to ones that are a multiple of the video refresh rate.
Cons:
- May cause audio stuttering for a second or two immediately after changing video refresh rate.

Rating: 4/5
Description: Music management software based on the KDE Desktop Environment

Pros:
- Easy to use
- Reads a multitude of audio formats
- Awesome theme.
- Open souce
- Expandable with scripts

Cons:
- Newest version sucks. Have to revert to 1.4
- Sometimes reads too many audio formats. Has been known to see mp4 videos as audio files
- KDE based

Title: Sun xVM VirtualBox
Rating: 9/10
Description: To put it briefly, have a window open "emulating" another operating system

Pros:
-Runs on Windows, Linux, and OS/2 I believe. All these can also be the guest OSs
-Don't have to dual boot or risk installing potentially unstable OSs like Windows 7 RC1

Cons:
-Files in virtualized operating system are completely separate from your main one and vice-versa
-Have to wait for the second operating system to boot up after you run Virtual Box
-I noticed that I can't figure out how to make the window bigger or change the screen resolution in Virtualbox
-Probably requires a quicker computer, but that's no problem these days

Rating: 9/10
Description: Formerly named "Crap Cleaner", CCleaner is basically a software designed to clear the useless junk from your computer.
Pros:
- It clears out your caches, temp files, error logs, broken desktop/start menu shortcuts, browser cookies/caches/histories, and pretty much everything else that can stand to be deleted that you may not think of.
- Can uninstall applications
- Can enable/disable/delete programs on the start up list
- Can view and delete system restore points.
Cons:
- I'm pretty sure Windows does most of this natively

CCleaner is useful for the average Joe like myself who just wants to free up a little bit of space without much hassle.
