Dude, the 2GB corsair XMS2 is $150 ($120-something after a mail-in rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145590 with the faster ram being $215 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145168

Now post a complete part list! I must review it!

Yeah, I was looking at the 2 just now, exactly the same except the more expensive one is 4-4-4-12 instead of 5-5-5-12, and no epp (whatever that is =P) on the more expensive one.

The updated list is at the beginning, let me just quickly change the ram. Click the link to get the the prices as of right now.

The $215 set was 4-4-4-12 (and you want EPP)

Personally, I'd pick 64-bit Vista over 32-bit if you think you will be able to handle a bit of trial and error and research to get it all up and working in 64-bit, but the choice is completely yours.
ooooh, oops, I didn't read your post entirely, sorry Rolling Eyes

I was looking at different ram, I will take a look at this now.

EDIT: Also, this has a combo with the CPU =D
Given your component choice, it looks like you'll have a hard time bringing the price down without sacrificing features, however, do you really need two DVD burners?
true, you should only ever need one (if you need the second drive, a reader should be all you need for the second).

True, I will get rid of one of them, we have at least 3 to 5 external drives.

Also, I read a review of the case at http://www.cluboverclocker.com/reviews/cases/NZXT/Lexa/index.htm , apparently it is a pretty good case. Also, I have read somethings about the case not including rounded cables, do you think I should order any?

EDIT: I changed it, I now only have 1 dvd drive, this brings the price down to 1615
Nah, you can always fold your IDE cables in half lengthwise (I do that with mine) if you have any.
Oh, and that case appears to be t3h pwnage.
since you are using SATA, the cables are so small, it doesn't matter.
Uh... dude? NO case comes with any cables (excluding the front panel IO and any other 'extra' features, such as a fan controller) unless it comes with a power supply (which I don't think yours does) - all that is included with the motherboard

oh... Sorry Very Happy

I ran into this tutorial from Tom's Hardware, would it be a good guide?

EDIT: Should I add a floppy drive just in case I need to use a floppy instead of a cd to boot something (unlikely, but possible, their only like 10 bucks)

I'm gonna read through it now since I have time.
Nope, you don't need a floppy at all. Windows Vista [finally] allows you to load drivers from a USB drive instead of a floppy during install (for RAID, mainly) - the floppy is now 100% dead Smile.

As for the tutorials, I personally hate Tom's Hardware and refuse to ever base any decision off of any of their articles, but if you are uncertain, just look over the last article (although some things are missing - like that the AMD stock cooler already has TIM applied, you don't apply your own).
I was wondering whether you thought I should spend the extra 20 dollars to upgrade to the 5600...

Here is the comparison of the specs from 5200-6000 on newegg:

How much would those extra .2 ghz help?
Not significantly, but it's still an improvement. For $20, I'd go for it...

On the subject of building computers, I'd just love to show mine off... http://youtube.com/watch?v=HyCtXleoYLg
Cool! What are using to control the CC's with sound?
Hmmm.... Good idea, maybe later in the summer I will install some sound activated cold cathode tubes...

I love the lights, but the case... Well.... Clear really is not my style Razz

Oh yeah, and Kerm, you get them on the internet, such as at http://www.crazypc.com/products/casemods/lighting.htm
More specifically, you mean this:
http://www.crazypc.com/products/82391.html
Actually I was referring to the many colors of sound activated cold cathode kits Wink

Slight speed improvement (64-bit calculations are faster than 32-bit calculations), supports 4gb+ of RAM (instead of the ~3gb max in XP), more 'future-proof' (face it, 64-bit is the future - the question is whether or not you want to be an 'early-adopter' - aka, a beta tester Very Happy ) I mean I've been using 64-bit since I got this computer (something like 6-7 months ago) - but this is with Linux where 64-bit support is excellent and driver support is plentiful

I have to disagree I think that 128 bit is the future and the Cell shows that. If Windows Vista every supported 128 bit then I would totally go with that. And Question 64 bit calculations are faster than 32 bit calculations. Are you sure that its not just that the processor is faster?

As far as I know, very few companies have even started producing applications that run natively in 64 bit, let alone 128 Rolling Eyes

Besides, so far the only application of cell is the ps3 (and it may be powerful, but they still didn't finish it, didn't they end up throwing in an nvidia gpu in the end?)

EDIT: Ok, I should have done a little research first, I just realized that the ps2 cpu was 128 bit to Razz Also it looks like there are a few more things with cell in them

The first major commercial application of Cell was in Sony's PlayStation 3 game console. Mercury Computer Systems has a dual Cell server, a dual Cell blade configuration, a rugged computer, and a PCI Express accelerator board available in different stages of production. Toshiba has announced plans to incorporate Cell in high definition television sets.

Maybe I should have just never commented on that Laughing

Incorrect. The Cell is a 'hybrid' style processor in that it is not completely 128-bit. The PPE has some 64-bit and some 128-bit registers, while the SPE has only 128-bit registers, but both the SPE and PPE use a fixed-width 32-bit instruction set.

Positive. If it was just a faster processor, how do 64-bit apps run faster than 32-bit apps on identical systems? Anyway, think of it this way. A 32-bit processor must do two operations to do a calculation on a number that is 64-bits, whereas a 64-bit processor can do that same calculation in one operation. (eg, floating point in games)
