Thats because SVG isn't an "image", its a description of an image. When you look at an SVG, you are looking at the RENDERING of the object the SVG file describes.

Not sure if you can use it for an icon in windows or not, but it shouldn't be all that hard to make them in SVG, and then convert them to windows ico format (releasing, of course, both the SVG and the ico Smile )

As for the linux, just install Ubuntu. Its one of, if not the, easiest distro to get up and running. Just ask all the people here who have successfully installed and use it Smile

I have Fedora Core 6 cause I gave up on Ubuntu. Ubuntu screwed up my computer. I installed it and all, but I had to restore my harddrive. Fedora is working out well, and the installation ran clean except for disc 5. So next I just need to get a new Disc 5 Wink

Do I need a plugin to export in SVG in GIMP?
you might need the plugin (as I can't seem to save to SVG in my GIMP install). As for Linux, I have found Ubuntu easier then Fedora (but that is me), as I actually got wifi to work with WPA in Ubuntu, couldn't if FC4.

Yeah, its better, but if you are going to mimic the Adobe PDF logo, methinks you should at least accurately mimic it (or not, as that's prolly copywrite infringement)

Then again, I don't know if the icon theme I'm using even has a specific icon for PDF files, as I've never seen it Very Happy (previews ftw!)

Well, did that work out? I believe GIMP needs a plugin to save as SVG.
