And now, the final month of 2022, as we reach Day 6 of our Twelve Days of PotY! There were six projects that qualified for the poll this month, so after one week of voting we'll unveil your opportunity to pick the best project of all of 2022 in the Project of the Year poll. Here's what Cemetech's illustrious members managed to work on before the end of 2022:
  • AnotherWorldCE: Port of the classic 16-bit game to TI84+CE: Zaalane made progress in their visually-impressive port of Another World. With help from calc84maniac, screen tearing has been eliminated! You can check out the latest version on their GitHub.
  • AOS-GUI: an "OS" within an OS!: Nanobot567 has built a custom shell for modern computers. It's very customizable, and comes with a package manager to install other apps! It's meant to be a "programmers playground". Something to play around in for the curious hacker.

  • Bubbles!: SomeCoolGuy uploaded a version of their Bubbles game for us to experiment with, with the hopes of getting some input as well as generally showing progress. Some advice was given on how to improve things, so we'll have to see if any of the suggestions get implemented! Stay tuned for the May 2023 PotM to see what happened!

  • CE C Toolchain and Libraries for the TI84+CE/TI83PCE: MateoConLechuga has released v11.0 of the CE toolchains and libraries! These invaluable tools have made countless programs and games for the TI-84 Plus CE and the TI-83 Premium CE possible.
  • CEaShell: A Shell for the TI-84+ CE: CEaShell has officially released! TIny_Hacker, with RoccoLox Programs, spent lots of time working on and polishing this useful shell. It includes some neat features like program icons in the OS program menu! Get it here

  • CETris, another Tetris game for the TI84CE: Minxrod makes an update to CETris, a tetris game for the CE. A new "Ultra Mode" has been added for a score-attack style challenge, as well as other additions to improve the experience overall. It's a great looking implementation of tetris!

  • CryptX - Cryptography Bundle for the CE: ACagliano has made some changes to the internal APIs of this cryptography library to make them more user friendly, as well as making a request to others for analysis. Think you know crypto (security, not currency)? Take a look at the codebase and see what you can find!
  • PRIZM racing: a 3D multiplayer racing game for the fx-CG50: Duartec makes lots of progress in PRIZM racing! Singleplayer and multiplayer versions have been separated for technical reasons. Lots of technical improvements were made over the month, including some optimizations that push the program up to 24 FPS. Ambitiously, duartec also started working on an 84+CE version in the branch. An exciting project worth watching for sure! A 1.1 version is available on the Github.
  • Procedural Terrain Generation in Javascript: Michael2_3B has started working on terrain generation using noise. A very useful tool for anyone wanting to learn more about terrain generation or noise, or for anyone wanting to implement their own. His tool has a lot of on-demand configurability so you can quickly tweak parameters to your liking. Grabbing my see-into-the-future glasses and I can see lots of good polish being added to this in the future. A wonderful tool!

  • Sonic 2 CE: A port of 8-bit Sonic 2 for the TI-84+ CE (WIP): grubbycoder makes progress on his Sonic 2 port of the CE. The code can now assemble! An ambitious project I hope we see more of.
  • TI-Boy CE Progress Thread: calc84maniac adds Game Boy Color support to the TI-Boy CE. calc84maniac has put a tremendous amount of work into this project, and it shows. Game Boy Color support opens up a whole world of games. As an added bonus, we also have a detailed blog post about the technical details of using JIT recompilation.
  • xFiles CE development: AchakTheFurry makes progress on xFiles, the CE port of the monochrome shell. Version 0.95 was uploaded, which includes all the basic features you expect from a shell, but additional things like encrypted password login and advanced file management.

This concludes all twelve of our Projects of the Month for 2022: look for more 2023 PotMs and the 2022 Project of the Year vote soon!

Great work, thanks for writing this merthsoft! Some really great projects here. Looking forward to the PotY!

(Vote Terrain Gen pls)
This was a fun one to write! Lots of cool projects on display this month Smile As a HUGE fan of random generation, I'm voting for that! A very cool tool to help understand or find your own combinations of fun! And a big thanks to the potm editors for getting my ramblings into article form.
Thanks indeed for stepping up on this (and other) PotM posts, Merthsoft! Very little editing was required. I'm also fascinated to see how the voting on this one is shaking out.
