OMFG THEY'RE MERGING!!!

A lot of tech companies have been merging over the past two years...
Oh man, imagine the cool things they should be able to do together... for example, much better-integrated cpus with gfx cards and gpus...
I mentioned this in my amd or nvidia thread, why couldn't AMD have merged with Nvidia?

Why would they do that? Because NVidia is generally recognized as the superior company? (at least in my opinion).
Yeah, this is old news.... (was announced like two weeks go)

@Kerm: Because nVidia is the primary manufacturer of AMD's chipsets, without which AMD would still be far behind Intel. nVidia == AMD's savior back in the AthlonXP days (which, of course, continued on with the A64) ATI is now making chipsets, but they are still behind in terms of features and performance...
true, my parents A64 has the nVidia chipset in it.

I had heard about this in one of my MCP mags I think a while back, old.
YES! I have always liked to stay with the A's...everyone puts ATI down but I love Radeon cards.
"everyone" doesn't put down ATI. I loved my Radeon 9700Pro, it is an amazing card. I hate ATI's linux drivers support, but the windows ones are rock solid and fast. ATI's biggest problem is that its OpenGL is slower than nVidia's, which is especially a problem in linux cause thats the only hardware acceleration available Wink
