I'm trying to make a hub, but I'm having trouble finding parts. I don't to buy anything for it. What might I have lying around with a 2.5mm socket in it? Could I just put in a female usb port and use my 84?
1.2.5mm port.... I can't think of anything that that would be in.
2.No. You can't use a USB cable w/ a TI-84 and TICI. TICI uses the serial port.

A way that you could build this(This costs about 4 dollars for the adapter) is that you could buy a 2.5mm(Male) to headphones(3.5mm?)(FeMale) and then you could just cut a sound cable that has a male headphone plug on one end. The red on a headphone cable is the tip, White is the middle, and gnd(usually black or no insulation) is the base. This is what I did. Here are links to the pictures of mine.

Wow, I didn't even think of that. I have a 2.5mm male -> 3.5mm female adaptor. I got it to use headphones with my calc. I guess I'll give that a try. Thanks.
Good call Netham. Some cell phones also have 2.5 mm jacks, but I doubt you'd want to disassemble a cell phone for this. Smile
I am not very mechanical, so I am gonna probably have a long post when I get around to making mine, 0x5.

Not a problem at all. I would willing to help you out with a few tips when you get around to it.
I was actually looking at putting a 3.5 mm jack in my 83. It's quite simple, just solder the wires to the corresponding contacts on the link port.
Indeed, I did that with one of my 83+'s. With the others I decided it was just easier to use my 2.5<-->3.5mm audio adapter.
