This past weekend, I was working on Appendix D to append to "Programming the TI-83 Plus/TI-84 Plus", teaching TI-84+CSE TI-BASIC programming. One of the examples I included was a Snake game, teaching readers about circular buffers and the TI-84+CSE homescreen. I encouraged readers to take the very simple Snake game I showed and turn it into a full-fledged, fun game to release to the world, and I ended up deciding to take my own advice. To that end, I have published Snake C v1.0 for the TI-84+CSE.

This TI-84+CSE port of the ever-popular Snake game casts you as a hungry snake eating apples and avoiding its tail and walls. It has five increasingly-difficult levels, and tracks your high score. Of course, it requires Doors CSE 8.0 or higher, which it uses to get colored text on the homescreen. Give it a try, and of course let me know if you have any feedback.

Looks great! As a creator of many calc snake games, I approve!
A quick question, how do you get color on the homescreen? I assume its with a xLib function because it requires Doors.

It's technically part of the Celtic 2 CSE library, but yes, it's a Hybrid library. You want the DispColor function.

Thanks! It was a very quick game to make, but for some reason I had never released a Snake game before, so I'm happy to finally do so. Back in the day I could never figure out the circular buffer/list trick, so my Snake games were painfully slow.
