Hi all,
Recently I picked up a Sparcbook 3GS from Weird Stuff (great store by the way). I made a charger and the laptop appears to boot. However after the laptop boots it gives this error message:
Timeout waiting for ARP / RARP packet

Lost carrier (transeiver cable problem?)

Cable problem or twisted pair hub link test disabled

Use the prom command "help Ethernet" for more information

After looking these error codes up I found the laptop is running Solaris and I suspect that the laptop is giving these errors because it didn't come with a hard drive (I assume since the bays on both sides of the laptop are empty). Does anyone know where you could get a HDD compatible with the laptop?

Thanks in advance,
Arcturus314
Some research indicates this machine uses a SCSI hard drive, which is likely to be difficult to find for any reasonable amount of money. This SPARCbook hacking SAQ suggests a SCSI-to-IDE adapter in conjunction with any 2.5" IDE hard drive, but that advice is also 14 years old at this point.

You probably want to see if you can find any kind of SCSI adapter, and pair it with an appropriate drive. SATA would be nicest, but I have no idea if you'll be able to find a SCSI-SATA adapter anywhere.
Thanks for the help, I'll pick up an adapter.
