TI US/Canada web site hasn't annouced it yet, but according to TI-Germany and TI-Swiss web sites, the TI-84+SE has been discontinued. Sad

http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/SUISSE/productDetail/chf_ti84pse.html
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/DEUTSCHLAND/productDetail/de_ti84pse.html

The TI-84+SE had 1.5Mb archive memory. The basic TI-84+ only has 480Kb... If this is not enough, the only choice remaining is the TI-Nspire.

Another action from TI in order to force users to the Nspire technology.

No surprise the swiss TI-84+SE page links to the TI-Nspire...

Principales fonctionnalités
Production arrêtée!
Nous vous proposons à la place toute notre gamme de calculatrices graphiques ou passez à la technologie TI-Nspire™![/quote]

Too bad they try to sell more TI-Nspire calculators, not by improving the Nspire OS, but by discontinuing other calculators, so that the Nspire will remain the only choice. Angry

The end of the TI-z80... has begun... Sad
Today is a very sad day...

Information about the discontinuation of the TI-84+SE has been relayed on TI-Austria:
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/OESTERREICH/productDetail/at_ti84pse.html

According to the Internet Wayback Machine, TI-Denmark, TI-Spain and TI-Sweden used to list the TI-84+SE but have now removed it without saying anything:
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/DANMARK/productCategory/dk_graphing.html
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/ESPANA/productCategory/es_graphing.html
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/SVERIGE/productCategory/se_graphing.html

Unfortunately, it seems more and more credible...

I'm feeling a bit sad inside, just like you... :(

the z80 calculators are great becuase while they have limited memory, there is much less for programmers to worry about when writing assembly programs. Texas Instruments must be trying to push for the end of 3rd party software...

Too bad for them,as when ndless 1.7 gets stable, they'll have games showing up for nspire ALL OVER ticalc!

EDIT:

Of course, I've heard its because their calculators are notoriously known for porgramming and games during class, but that's something they'll have to accept as fact and let it be...

It sounds like US markets will still be producing/distributing the 84 line.

So who needs TI to produce 83's and 84's? There will be tons of them available on EBAY for decades. Cheer up.

They will become a rare commodity. It would be nice to have new stock being created to actually increase the supply not just re-circulate them to different owners.

Now there's is some positive thinking! Laughing I do still wish that TI randomly makes a new batch every so often just to get new calcs circulating, too. This is pretty negative thinking, but the flash chips will wear out eventually Sad But that's just another challenge! Mwahahahaha!
