Hello, I'm wondering if anyone else here has ever attempted to wash a calculator.

I have a TI-84+ calculator, and after taking out the batteries (backup too), and washing it, waiting for it to dry out, and putting the batteries in, the calculator turned on but was stuck on the "RAM CLEARED" screen, and would not respond to any keypresses. I tried to transfer the OS to my calculator, except after I tried that, it would not turn on at all.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar, and what can I do about it?

Thanks.

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone else here has ever attempted to eat a calculator.

I have a TI-84+ calculator, and after taking out the batteries (backup too), and putting it in the oven, waiting for it to cool down, and putting the batteries in, the calculator turned on but was stuck on the "RAM CLEARED" screen, and would not respond to any keypresses. So I ate it with some chinese soja sauce and mashed potatoes.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar, and what can I do about it?

Thanks.

Did you wash it whole!? The innards are full of water! You need to get a torx screwdriver and open the thing up so it can dry out. It's likely that water has become stuck under the keypad. In the future, you can disassemble the unit and wash only the plastic case and keys. The screen can be cleaned well with a damp cloth or tissue. (You may be able to use isopropyl alcohol on the LCD, but it might strip on any anti-glare coating. I have no clue if TI uses one.)
