Hi
Can someone tell me how to get the TI89 to show the decimal number instead of a fraction. When I divide 3 by 27 it displays 1/9. I want it to display .1111111. I cannot find the setting for it and the manual is hopeless.

Thanks

You want to set it to approximate. It should be a mode setting.

or just hit [<>] + [ENTER]

that is, the yellow diamond button, and then enter. (you'll notice little yellow ~'s above the enter key, also) -- that'll tell the ol calculator you want an approximate answer. your mode settings will stay the same.
