I have an unquenchable desire to write an OS for the TI-89. Trouble is, I'm not sure where to start. I'm guessing I need to read up on the TI-89's hardware, but where would I find that sort of information? brandonw's TI-Wiki doesn't appear to have it (but please correct me if I'm wrong).

So, I'm putting this question to you: Where do I start? What information do I need to gather before I can start designing a fresh OS? Is there anything I should keep in mind, any pitfalls to avoid?

(Edit: I should mention, I'm familiar with assembly, at least x86, and several years ago I tinkered with TI-83+ assembly; point is, the actual programming isn't a concern.)

Hi.

Some useful websites/links:
Technoplaza

Technicalc FAQ

The TIGCC documentation should give you a lot of help:
TIGCC SDK

ticalc.org informational texts, look especially under 68k, calcinfo, hardware

I'm sure there's much more resources out there, too.

You might want to look at PedroM for an example of a 68k OS.
