This is a different breed of gameplay from what you're probably used to: it requires some initial long-term investments and some waiting—days upon weeks—to fully get into the swing of things. You might appreciate it, or you might not; at any rate, if you want to maximize return, then return to this program from time to time, as prices and items will change. Remember also that there are good and bad days – stay sharp, and perhaps you'll notice a pattern or two emerge.

Overall, you know what they say... Goods come to those who wait. :)

Wait, so you seeded the random number by time? That is genius. You need to write a tutorial on that. That is really amazing.

Of little relevance is the fact that this is my 100th post.

If the market values aren't moving fast enough throughout the day, then it's because I made a classic blunder: I forgot to consider that the calculator might be in Degree mode. Replace your current program with the updated version in the first post to fix this. (Don't worry, this shouldn't affect your previous earnings.) As an added bonus (cheater), the line below will tell you how many hours, minutes, and seconds remain until the new items arrive:

It's an old trick. The on-line documentation for QuickBASIC (ca. 1989) actually suggests you do this. For QuickBASIC, it's RANDOMIZE TIMER. BBC BASIC should support something similar.
