No, I think the os is just "unprepared", a rst 00h instruction (what is executed on a crash, when you pull the batteries,...) also resets the gatearray (confirm please), thus the clock is reset.


On a manual clear (mem menu) the time is stored in a safe place and then ram is reset, after which time is restored.

Note: this is hypothetical, for the biggest part.

Time is stored in ports, so clearing RAM shouldn't affect it. However, the OS reset (rst 00h) probably resets the ports as well as clear RAM. So even though most people think of a crash as clearing RAM that's not all that's done.

Oh, I know that. Usually, though, when something is "reset", it means it's set back to 0. Building upon this, I'd assume that when the clock port gets "reset", it'd be set back to 0, or 1/1/1997. Maybe this is just a play on words...

also you have to consider the different time zones that the TI-89 has. and yes 89 DOES support time zones, i have one so i know
