Over at TIBD someone asked the interesting question how might you access the calculator ID? Is there a bcall of some sort?

That routine only gets the first 5 bytes of the ID. (You don't need any more than that; the first 5 bytes uniquely identify the calculator.) There's no B_CALL for getting the last two bytes; indeed, I think part of the theory was that it was supposed to be difficult for user programs to obtain the full ID (though I don't understand why.) There are various ways you could hack around to try to get the full ID, but it's probably not worth it. Really the only thing you ever needed the full ID for was buying apps from TI's online store.

Fun fact: in 2001, a batch of TI-83 Pluses was produced that all had the ID number 04000-00000-8474. As far as I know these calculators were all recalled; I've never heard of one being found in the wild.
