What is your specific problem? Installing? Running? Linking?
In response to your KDE question: No. Gnome will work fine, but I am not sure if TILP needs qt libraries. |

I receive something like this:
Code: (tilp:4649): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "pixmap",
(tilp:4649): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "aurora",
(tilp:4649): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "clearlooks",
kbuildsycoca running...
Reusing existing ksycoca
KCrash: Application 'tilp' crashing...
Could not find 'drkonqi' executable.
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.
Also do you know how to compile .z80 to .bin to .8xp in Linux?
Thanks.

I'm not sure how to help you. What exactly are you doing when you get this error?
For assembling in linux you should use wabbitcode or spasm.
wabbit code is a full ide: Download here
spasm is just a command-line editor: Download instructions here
edit: wabbitcode includes spasm.

How about converting to 8xp? Thanks for your help. Im just opening TILP and using the screen utility, I click refresh and then TILP crashes. Is there another way to send programs to my calculator through linux?
Thanks . |

Does the rest of tilp work? (seeing what files there are and sending/receiving them) What calc are you using? What cable?
Spasm assembles and "buidls" .z80 files into .8xp files. I would recomend downloading wabbitcode.
No. I do not believe there are any other linking programs for linux. |

The whole GUI is like stuck and I believe the calculator is not being recognized. It is a TI84 Plus SE with the cable that came with it, a standard USB-to miniUSB cable I suppose. Thanks I´ll check spasm |

I'm not sure what causes these errors. Have you tried Goggling the errors yet? If neither tilp nor tilp2 work I would recomend using tilp2. try adding "deb http://repo.calcforge.org/debian/i386/ stable main" to your sources.list and installing from the repos.
Edit: don't double-post. Just edit your post with the "edit" button as I did here.

Personally, I am using ubuntu, a derivative of debian. Yes, tilp works fine on both of my gnome machines. One of them is 64-bit. I have annother idea: try running as root. |

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 0451:e008 Texas Instruments, Inc. TI-84 Plus Silver Calculator
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 058f:9360 Alcor Micro Corp. 8-in-1 Media Card Reader
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0458:5003 KYE Systems Corp. (Mouse Systems)
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
BUT when tilp opens it says : Status:Not connected
In the communication windows it tells me: Ti92, GrayLink cable and port #2

You have to tell tilp what calc you are using, it doesn't auto detect it. Right click the area on the left and select change device, then click on search for devices and it should find your calc, then enter the settings it gives you into their respective place. |
