Yes, that's right. You all read the topic title. Input is deadly, and it's always been around. Though its usefulness for advanced ti-basic programmers is mainly tied to debugging, it is still used to this day for easy user variable creation. But the question "Why did you make a topic about input in the calculator crash section of the forum if you were just going to summarize its uses," may come to mind. Well, just a few moments ago when I was using my calculator, something horrific and devastating occurred.
I created a new program and it had only one line.
Code: :Input Str1
Upon the launching of this program, my calculator cleared its own RAM! Of course, I duplicated the program and launched it again out of curiosity. The RAM remained safe, and the program functioned as normal.
Now here's my question: "What caused the crash?" I have a ti-84+ SE with OS 2.40. |

In all likelihood, just an ASM program writing where it shouldn't be writing.
I suggest updating your OS--that might prevent this from happening again. I believe the current version is 2.43 for 84+SE's. |

I have had the calculator crash many times for no apparant reason. It's what happens if you run poorly programmed ASM applications (mainly the old Mirage and Mario). |

OS 2.30 is actually the first version that has all the new functions. |
