Yes I got a ton of homework from French. I have a day off today but I am going to have to spend most of it doing homework because it is due Thursday.

What is the point of giving everyone homework? Teachers say it's for our own good but I can learn the material without doing all that work. A good teacher would never assign a lot of homework!

The homework is designed to make you work the same types of problems repeatedly to help you remember how to work the problem.

Afterall its statistically proven that repitition is the best way to remember something.

Well, in math I think that homework is stupid, since I get it all after the first example, and there is plenty of time for the repetition in class. You can't practice from repetition of a teacher showing examples anyway

Well, it would benefit the topic starter to do some homework in English, so he or she could wright a decent sentence with correct grammar and spelling.

Really, there are not many rulls to learn that deal with grammar. Essentially, start with a capital letter, end with puctuation, and do not put a comma anywhere you wish. Believe it or not, there are about 11 rulls that have to deal with the comma, and after you learn them, you can write without comming across as an idiot.

Yeah true, although grammer isnt excessively hard. It does get boring. I do not have to worry about it this year, however, because we are reading "classic novels" in English written by such semi-modern authors as Shakespeare, Orwell, Hilton, et cetera.

I don't believe in homework. We do enough work in school, why do it out of school? And many students start doing the homework wrong (they don't understand the math method, or how to conjugate Spanish verbs, or what not) and end up doing 100 of them, etching the method into their brain! In our honors geometry class we actually have less homework. The situation is much like college. You do your homework or you dont. The professor doesnt care. You are graded on your tests. If you look at your homework or actually do it, then you might get a good grade on your tests. If not then screw you!!!

I do not believe in memorization of definitions either. We must memorize various definitions to higher-level words in English, and I couldnt tell you what half of them mean!!! Oh well, its not like I am ever going to use dionysian or lugubrious in a sentance.

Provided you know some algebra, you are ahead of most loosers, which cannot even check their a paychecks.

Besides, programming is a usefull skill.

I recommend you go through Calculus before quitting math altogether.

I know that it helps to do homework to understand the material. But I already know it all, what is the point of my making up 92 sentences and writing them in french?

I don't have to spend 2-3 hours on math homework and my average is 107.3%, lol. I think that homework should be optional - students who need to do it will see that their grades drop, students who don't need to shouldn't have to.

Yeah, homework is really dumb. They already have us for a good 7-8 hours each school day, but that is isn't enough? If it were up to me, the entire school system would be completely reformed with no homework, and a few other policies thrown in that I may or may not ramble on senselessly about later.

I find complaining about homework pointless. But I always seem to have less than 30 minutes a night in eighth grade, although I still have geometry, Latin, and an advanced English class. Study halls help with the homework also.

HA HA, I am laughing at you all!

My school has a policy of NO HOMEWORK, ever! When I leave school I never have to think about it again until the next day. It is the only good thing about my school and I cant wait to go back to my old school, where they have homework. I am serious.

yeah, homework should at least be optional(suggested only), because if it helps you learn, and you need the help, you better do it so you can do well on a test, but if you don't need the help learning, it's a waste of time, and if only dumb people have to do it, those are the people who don't bother doing it anyway.

Homework does seem optional, it's just if you don't do it you suffer.

Last year i was a junior in high school and i didnt do any homework. The short term effect was that I passed my classes illegally and the long term effect was that I got sent to jail school where there isnt any homework.

Very Happy Yeah Guys I hate homework too. That is, when I actually do it ahhaah.

I hardly ever really do my HW b/c I dont like it. I just goto school and copy off of my friends, I get A's so why change? Besides I learn enough in school to disregard HW.

Very Happy

I finish most homework in class, I rule.

I like normal homework, the 'write 3 essays by tomorrow' stuff sucks, espesially when all teachers try to cram it in just before the examn weeks (we get a week of examns every couple of months, the results on these examns are x% of your final grade and then there's the big final examns at the end of the school year) so you get a bunch of weeks with just regular normal 'make a bunch of pages of assignments' and 'hand a report of book x in in about 3 months' and then 2 weeks of 'social life? fun? what's that?'.

But I never, ever, make any homework on friday and saturday, this way I have at least 1.5 days a week where I can relax (half of friday+saturday).

But I never complain since I know I can finish it easily and haven't got anything better to do anyway. Besides, I actually learn stuff from most of the homework I get like with math, physics, chemistry, and economics. English class is just pointless though.

In my middle school French class I had a reasonable amount of HW a night, an above - 100% grade, and learned a lot of French. Here at my high school, I have 236 questions due tomorrow, barely an A average, and haven't learned any French to speak of so far. Which is the better teacher?

because they are hoping that you will suffocate under the mounds of paper then that will make their class easier to handle. then they will have less work to do, maybe even an amount that matches their salary.
