I plan on making a movie for a school project, and I need some free, basic video editing software. I would like to be able to arrange video clips on a timeline, along with still images and sound (for an animated segment). Really, that's all I'll be needing. However, Windows Movie Maker runs unbearably slow on my computer (I've got no idea why, as I've got a 3 gigahertz Pentium D and 2 gigabytes of ram), and I can't seem to find any more suitable programs.
Help, please? I need to get this assignment completed by next Thursday! |

Since you only need one thing, i think the free version of stop motion should suit your needs.

Well, that program doesn't seem to recognize the audio track of my project, and it also puts a big ol' watermark on the video, which is no good. Any other ideas?
I downloaded the free trial of Adobe Premiere CS3, and it also doesn't see the audio track of my videos. They're MP3 encoded. When I open them in VirtualDub, it says they're variable bitrate, which will cause it to be unsynchronized, and I try to export them as uncompressed wav, to prevent that, but they still don't synchronize with the video when I put it in Premiere. |

Lol. If you take a look, you'll see that I've actually commented on that thread, so I already know about it. Unfortunately, that software is for video compisiting (blue-screen type effects), not movie creation (combining video clips, sound files, and images on a timeline).
I think that the Adobe Premiere CS3 trial may be my best choice, if I can figure out how to import the MP3 sound track. Does anyone have any knowledge on the subject? I'll probably post this request on a video-specific forum, if I can find one. |

Try the Sony Vegas Pro trial.
It has a ton of effects and stuff you can do.
It also supports just about every format ever created. |

How about Jahshaka?
It's free, open-source, and has lots and lots and lots of features.
