I need to use an 2.5" PATA hard disk in my laptop, but my laptop is lame and only supports SATA, which I know some of you are thinking why the hell would I want to go from something faster to something slower. I have my reasons, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any adapters that are small that could plug into a 2.5" PATA hard disk to give it a SATA connector?

Edit: Alright I figured a device didn't exist for this situation. Well for laptops anyway. I wish one did, but to be honest I doubt there would have been ample room for even the smallest adapter. Thanks to anyone who atleast attempted to search. :)

Edit: Is there a way to make a computer recognize a sata drive as an IDE one?

Hi,

There are a great multitude of devices.

There are 2.5 to 3.5 inch PATA adapters... PATA to SATA adapters typically for 3.5" devices, and probably some other adapters if you just look around.

However, the problem that is apparent is that a laptop contains tight spaces that are exactly fitted to the hard drive. In other words if you find an adapter that works, you won't have room to use it in your laptop anyway.
