I made a new intro screen that will be put in most of my future games. The picture is attached to this post. I wish to know what is everybody's opinion about it and what I could do to improve it. Oh yeah, no questions about where it came from, please *looks at avatar*... Rolling Eyes

767 bytes could be put to better use.

Well, it's just a template. If you don't think an intro screen is needed, then consider it a credits screen (just pretend the text isn't there). Plus, once I learn assembly, it'll probably take less than 767 bytes and have greyscale.

Thats how much a full screen image takes up. With gray scale it'd be twice that...

The picture is good; the font doesn't fit with the mood of the image.

OK, I removed the text altogether and experimented with xLib to produce the 2nd image, which IMO, looks better than the 1st.

If you go with the first, scrap that A. It just looks terrible. :D

I like the second one better; you could probably fit the text in the sides somehow.

I have to go with DarkerLine's answer. A simple "By [your name here]" would save a bunch more time and space.

The first one looks better, people who don't know that man means you would be totally clueless.

Although the graphic is of adequate quality and the memory use isn't really any concern of mine, my opinion is that it is better to have a completely self-produce logo rather than a monochrome version of a commercial company's product. Or any third party for that matter.

I mean, otherwise it doesn't say anything about you, your organisation, or whatever, at all.

Wow, it looks exactly like your avatar! I think it looks pretty good, but not to show who the author of the file is. It is good for a screensaver though Wink

Well, the picture is just a template, meaning you can put anything you want next to it or in front of it (Title screen, main menu, credits, etc.). Sadly, this picture has nothing to do with my secret project. It was instead an experiment on how well I could duplicate images onto a calc with the help of GIMP. It could be used for a version of Deus Ex I might start for calcs once I learn assembly, but until then...

Oh yes, for those of you who wish to know, I actually put some personal touches to the B&W version (I did draw it by hand on the calc, if you are thinking I used a program that does it for me).

Sorry for the double post, but Homestar at MaxCoderz made an even better version of the picture:

Cool! But if you can't come up with any other use for 767 bytes, that's fine by me.

Well, it's probably not going to be used until I try replicating Deus Ex on a calc. And that's not until I learn assembly and raycasting (or until benryves finishes Nostromo). And that's probably not until August. Neutral

Hey, the pic looks great! Here's another option for the use of that pic: a pause screen Laughing

The best possible pause screen, in my opinion, is a turned off screen (as in Super Mario for the 83+). Simple yet efficient.

I mean, not to shoot down your idea or anything...

Well, that would be confused with my "off" screen, which usually occurs when I am finished using my calculator Razz

I have to say that's probably the screen I use the most X_X.

Hehe, same here. My calc is probably uses that screen ~18 hours a day.

Anyway, here is a revised version. The changes are:
-Added helicopter rotor
-Straightened JC's hair
-Rounded out JC's shades
-Made the lip shadow a bit smaller
