Stick with simple stuff.

> Snake
> A simple platformer
> A simple ASCII game, like you have to avoid something for as long as possible
> A turn based ASCII RPG

Something similar to CAVE wouldn't be that hard, I put one together in a few minutes, though it could be optimized. When I first showed it to my friends, who had some other version of cave, this was our "chat":

ME:
This is the cave I made. Here, try it.
THEM:
Hey! The characters are too white! It's hard to see!
ME:
So mine is faster?
...

That's a fun idea.
See what there is on the challenges page at the Dev.

Chips Challange has been remade (I beleive) by chipmaster (?) for a contest on some site (cemetech?).

Yeah, I knew that it has been remade somewhere...I searched tifreakware's contest thread, and could not find it. I'll look in Cemetech's.

Try Hangman, it is actually pretty easy thanks to strings and the sub( command.

I was going to recommend hangman, but look at all of the hangmans in the ticalcs archive.
I guess you could still do it. Start out with two player, and then add one player with an archive of around 20 words, and expand it.

Start off with something nice and easy, like Snake, then get into something more complicated, like DDR multiplayer. Once you feel you are pretty good at programming fully-optimized games, then start a huge project, like a remake of CalcRogue on an 83+ family calculator. Or you could learn z80 assembly. Or both! Very Happy

Ha learn asm... I'd rather try and program a 4 level grayscale fps game in pure basic that is as fast as an assembly game.

you could redo a classic boardgame, trouble perhaps?
cards maybe? blackjacks not too terribly hard, though im sorry to say ive only attempted word based Sad
look around, i heard there was something called "takeover thomaston" or something like that at one point(thought im not sure if it ever made it to forums knowing who wrote it) theres no idea to stupid, pointless and time consuming perhaps but if you can write it then theres people that will play it

Actually, it would help a lot if we knew your (self-proclaimed) level of programming.

And, welcome to United-TI, werewolf1492!

Definitely something turn based to start, but I guess it really does all depend on your past experience. Of course if you don't try making something that is difficult then you wont really get better.

Very insightful Weregoo-... Werewolf! Smile . Welcome to UTI.
