File Name :: Virtual Poker
Author :: Harrierfalcon
Category :: Ti-83plus Basic Games
Screenshot ::
Description ::
Possibly the best Pure Basic Poker game out there. Excellent graphics, above-average speed (although a trifle slow, which infuriates me, I can't get it any faster), and fast checking. Covers all the poker hands (I think).
Here's a list of the poker hands it covers:
1. Pair
2. 2 Pairs
3. 3 of a kind
4. 4 of a kind
5. Straight
6. Flush
7. Straight flush
8. Royal flush
If you're wondering, I've encompassed the over-lap of the straight, so Ace, 2, Jack, Queen, King
is a straight.

You can also place bets, and you only lose when you've lost all your money. If you go over 1000, then your cash will look something like 1.4K, which means you have 1400. Same goes for millions.

Now you can completely customize the text on the cards! And instead of a boring Input command, you are granted access to all sorts of hidden characters! Check out the screenshot for some. Both versions, with and without customizable text are available.

And upon request, hearts and diamonds are now hollow.

No bugs to date, but if you find one, follow the steps in readmeorelse.txt.

Great! That tells why it was your basic brain teaser... What a subtile mean of getting work from others. I should note it Smile j/k

Textsprites?

No asm libs? good. Isn't the screeny a bit fast? (looking at the run indicator)

For the bet overlapping, you could check if the number Z is greater than X and if so, then just display the digits that fit. (10 digits in the example)

text(Y,X,10^(10)fpart(Z10^(-10

Optimizations could maybe be made, but that's not the point.

@Luby: I know what is the Flash Debugger, but I normally assume people work on other emulators than this for animated screenies (looks at PTI, VTI, TiLem, etc)

I would, but I have trouble getting the ROM from my calc. I think Harrierfalcon has similar issues.

The flash debugger comes with a rom image that you can "borrow" for use with other programs. So even if you have a 84+SE you can use PTI with the rom from flash debugger.

And a suggestion for the game. Make the text sprites for diamonds and hearts just be a black outline with a clear center. That way the red suits are different from the black ones.

I'll get to those optimizations, Fallen. Possibly you could PM them to me? Good point too, bananaman, it was kinda looking generic...

I should note that I can use Flash Debugger's ROM....do you know what the filename is?

I was talking about the code line I had made, not your program. But I should look in there too.

I can't find the Flash Debugger's ROM file either. Maybe an update took it out?

Actually, I think that the ROM is TI83Plus.clc, and that tcc.exe that is in Tilem can extract a ROM from it.

The file name is TI83Plus.clc and to get it to work with PTI you just have to rename it to TI8x.rom

Hey Harrierfalcon, I was thinking about your money problem, and imho i think you could use like instead of $300,000 just $300k. I haven't thought about how but its just an idea.

displaying in K would be cooler. IMO 12.43K sounds better then $12,430.

P.S. How do I rename the Flash Debugger Rom for Virtual Ti 2.5?

Dunno...just get PTI. It's much better and provides better screenshots (oddly, with the crude screen function) than most. If you do get PTI, just drag-and-drop TI83Plus.clc that's in the Flash Debugger Exe folder into the window.

K, sorry for doubleposting, but I feel I should mention the update.

I've added customizable text (only in POKER2.8xp), changed the Hearts and Diamonds to white, fixed a couple other glitches, and most of all, I've added a score overlap (for those crazy people who bet everything.)

1400 will now appear as 1.4K
, same for millions. There's probably a bug somewhere, so if there is, lemme know and PM me which version and what happened. Screens of the glitch help too.
