I replied in this thread that we would prefer people didn't ask to be considered for membership. I thought it was by invitation only, and asking about it was a way to not be considered.
Am I mistaken? What should I respond? |

I know that myself and others have been invited to our UTI Member positions, as will others be invited in the near future. For the most part, though, I believe that members have applied based on the guidance of moderators and other members who have been promoted through the same means.

At some point, Arcane Wizard told me to apply for UTI membership, so I did, and was accepted. I've also seen other people apply at least over the time period that I've been staff.
In other cases, I know that some people have been invited to become UTI members when also invited to become moderators.
I don't see a reason that people should be discouraged from applying, so I suggest we use both methods. |

Both methods are fine with me. In fact I think we should be a little more proactive in promoting people to the UTI Member position if they are worthy of it. Start thinking of a few who should be next.
