Sure, I'll add that, it sounds believable.

And yes, I do need help with percentages, because I don't know how to make the game fair, as in not too easy and not too hard.

OH important one food rotting. Gotta have that. I think that the percentages should be even, i dont recall one event happening as much as another. But remember that if there are three speeds to travel like in game, that ur mor elikely to break a wheel or axel.

Yeah, I remember the pacing (more stuff breaking, more disease from stress) and the food amounts (more prone to disease/death if too little). How does 5% sound for everything? Or maybe 10%

For the days, I give 30 days per month, so if you start in March, you start on Day 1, if in April, then on Day 31, and so on, and then I'll randomize disease and mud puddles based on the day (when the number is very small or very big is when they are the biggest).

No, you got it all wrong. At the beginning of the year (the first couple of days) and at the end of the year (the last days of November/December) are the hardest times, not the beginning and end of each month.

Btw, magus, did you want the 'deer' to pop up randomly or wander around?

It would come out to the same thing, since "hard at the beginning" and "hard at the ending" are kind of consecutive.

The easy is in the middle, but it's the other middle. Think about it this way: there's an easy after beginning and before ending, but there's no easy after ending but before beginning. In fact, there's nothing after ending and before beginning.

Hardness from [Jan, Dec] = cos(x) from [0, 2pi] :-p

(Just a weird way to look at the hardness, not intended for implementation)

If you think about it, it's harder to travel in colder weather, so if you leave in March, you'll have a slighly hard time at the beginning, but if you pace yourself correctly, you won't have much problems later on with weather.

As for the deer, they're supposed to come out randomly when hunting, and then run away from one end of the screen to the other.

I assume you're referring to the game itself, not the hunting game?

EDIT:
The problem is that the one i have is like a landscape and its first person, not the alien breed kind. 2 different games, but ill post screen shot anyways.

EDIT 2:
Dont know how to get screenshot of game without something like Fraps or a prgm so i searched google and found the alien breed like hunting game screenshot and here it is:

I think this is what Magus wants anyways.

That is exactly what I'd like, but I'm guessing it would be very hard. And for now, it will all be in BASIC because I'm still haven't mastered it yet.

As for the sprites, I found out xlib only supports 8x8 and 16x16 sprites, so you'll have to cut your 36x16 sprites in half. And then somebody has to give me an example (or explain) how to make/use sprites with xlib and make them appear on the x-axis of the graph screen.

As for the mountains and stuff, it's not really neccesary, so I think I'll leave it out until I make the assembly version.

BTW, does anybody know in what language the Oregon Trail (1985) for Apple II computers was made in?

Figure out all the basic stuff first. I'll see how close I can get to making the hunting game just like that.
