slashdot just reported on MSD8x, providing a link to ticalc.org. Go see for yourself.
Congrats to everyone who helped with the project!

They don't seem to enthusiastic about it. Calc stuff seems to be looked down upon. It's a really cool thing though.

Except UTI, MaXCoders, Revsoft, DS and Ticalc (did I forget one?), where isn't it looked down upon?

He meant looked down on by slashdoters. I think MSD8x was a cool project. We could use more high-end projects like this one.

Who would want to use a flashdrive with your calculator? Ever hear of a PDA or even a laptop? Gosh guys... this is a cool achievment for the people who worked on it, but lets face it: modding calculators is no longer cool.

Plus a couple more inappropriate ones and pro-HP ones. It's funny because by TI84+SE beats the heck out of any PDA that I've seen, especially with this.

It is a very cool project.

I have, we bought one three years ago and my calc can do everything that it can easily. There are some fairly good music players for calc.

Are you serious? A calc with <24mhz cpu barely any RAM or storage space whatsoever vs a PDA that is faster than my previous desktop P3 PC has a harddrive and wifi internet?

are you talking about about a notebook pc or a palmpilot/blackberry type here?

when i think PDA i think digital address book and calendar with a touchscreen....nice ones have a cellphone, crappy webbrowsing and camera built in, but that really isn't the main purpose....

I'm not thinking of blackberry or anything of that sort here. More of what elf mentioned. Plus how many PDAs can do the sierpinski triangle?

You know, SQRXZ and a few other calc-originals have been ported to various Palms over the years. I think there was even some kind of a Joltima 2 done in full color for one of those platforms or gameboy.

Suprisingly, the few I saw were ported to Java and were slower than the prototypes. I hate suprises.
