Okay. This will be my first RPG game. I need some ideas for a good game to make on my 84+. Last night, I just got the urge to make one and then I asked my little sister, who's 9, what ideas she had. She told me SpongeBob, Jimmy Neutron, Strawberry Shortcake, etc. I need some good suggestions too.
Do you want fighting, magic, graph screen, home screen, lots of talking, etc.?
Thanks for the help guys. I need something to do. |

I personally like the fantasy RPG's like FF series. You should should put in 3 diff swords and body armor pieces and a couple spells while your at it. i dunno... I like side quests, or just quests period. It'd be cool if in the game you could just wonder around and do what you want (say like Animal Crossing) and then if u talk to certain ppl you can get quests. I personally dont like a lot of clues because when i finally figure it out it feels so good! haha anywho, hmmm... maybe in the beginning you can choose your class (monk, wizard, warrior, etc....)

Alright! Thanks. I'll get started with sprites this weekend. I am loving those ideas LyricalWolf! Maybe I will allow you to chose your category. Or the way you progress through the game chooses your category. Like if you kill people mainly by sword, you're a fighter. Something like that. |

I dunno. Fantasy RPGs are rather cliché. Personally, I'd enjoy an EarthBound type game. |

What was the point of that? I just quickly scanned thru what Wiki said. But, is there like goals for it? I want to make something that hasn't been made before. I don't want a remake.
EDIT: I see that you battle, but, is there like a boss to beat?

You know what would be amazing? A WWII RPG. It's never been done before (to my knowledge) and it has options for development. You could have it start like a roguelike, as in the player picks his character, and then they get items and abilities based on their choice. Classes like:
+Infantry
+Spy
+Medic
+Heavy Weapons Specialist
+Vehicle Specialist
+Officer
+Sniper
+Pilot
+Paratrooper
I'm just throwing out an idea. I think it's quite original. And much better than SpongeBob. I don't think _anyone_ would want to play a SpongeBob RPG. |

I don't mean a clone, I mean a wacky, non-medieval set RPG.

Thanks for all the ideas. Now I need either 5x5 sprites, 6x6, or 7x7. Whatever looks better. I need them of a sword, a fist, and a shield. I'll credit you. P.S. I'm posting from my PSP. It's hard. Seriously though, I tried making the sprites, but I couldn't make nice ones. |

So you're still going with a medieval RPG? Or am I assuming too much? I can't help you until Friday, that's when I get my calc back.
Edit: Grinding (attack, attack, attack) is bad. Especially on a calc. Please don't. Just warning you, I've become frustrated with RPGs on many platforms because of grinding.
