when a 89 row reduces a matix is gets rid of the varibles if that is what is nessacary to row reduce it (ex; dividing by y when you have a row of all 0's and y, then subtracting x 1's off of the other rows ect)

is there any way to prevent the 89 from doing this and get rowreduced matricies that still have the varibles? (this is needed for the constraints and the parametric equasions)

thanks

I don't know the answer to this, but since there's other replies, I'd guess it takes out the vars because of limits in the Pretty Print(tm) feature. I've heard stories that HP's support symbolic rref, but don't know if that's certain.

actually when it is a square matirx agumented by a matrix with varible for example the varibles show up; i guess another way to phrase this question (would yeild sam result) is "how do i stop the calculator from dividing by x in rref()?"
