Pac-Man. Yes, you heard, ermm.. read right! I'm making a Pac-Man game now. I have so far gotten the main menu complete and the stage design 94% done. The pellets for the stage take 6%. I know, I wanted to keep this a secret for a while, but I can't! It's just exploding inside me. I have to tell people. I'm gonna post up a screeny. Hope you like so far!
This is a work in progress. I'm not going to set a date yet, because when I do, it makes me loose the fun in making the game.

Look cool, are you going to have it going by sprites or just a single pixel? You could try and hollow out the solid rectangles though, it would look a little cool IMO or make it checkered insides >.> |

LeoFox: I think there is only one level in Pac-Man, but it gets harder. If not, mine will.
Kalan_vod: I was thinking of using the stat plot sign one, the little box, for Pac-Man. The stat plot sign three, the little pixel in the middle, will be pellets. The crosshairs will be the food in the corners. I will also try to make it to where Pac-Man is the stat plot sign three, the box, but with a pxl-On in the middle of it. Make him a full box and the enemies hollow boxes. And then when you get the food, the enemies will be hollow so you can eat them, then they will go back to normal.
EDIT: If someone could give me some cool Pac-Man sprites, That would be cool. Preferably 4x4. I'll credit you if you do help out!

With 4×4, it isn't that hard to figure something out. How about 2×2?

it'd be cool if you can port that 2x2 game from the flash, it has the basics down, (maybe just more spacing on the calc b/c of lack of color). the AI is cool too ... |

Yeah, it was pretty cool. Now that I have binary 4x4 sprites, I might have to remake the map. At least readjust it. Man, I hope not. Oh well, it needs optimizing anyways.
EDIT: I decided to go with 5x5 sprites. Here are some of my ideas:
Pac-Man
01111
11110
11100
11110
01111
Ghost
01110
10001
10001
10101
11011
Hollow Ghost(the ones that can be eaten when you eat a snack)
01110
10001
10001
10001
11111
Snacks
00100
01010
10001
01010
00100
I just came up with these not to long ago. I don't think the snack one is very nice. It's a diamond! Please post some of your ideas for sprites. I also might include different character selections! Ms. Pac Man and the others. And another thing, I will probably have to redo the stage design due to the fact I am now using 5x5 sprites. This may take a day or two to do, so hang in there.
Thanks for your encouragement! Keep posting!

How will you keep the 5x5 sprites time-efficiant and not flashing? Oh, and to those who were asking, Pac-Man does have multiple levels. |

He has multiple levels, but I can't find anything about the level designs changing. I'm pretty sure there is only one level design. If not, I'm sorry. Anyone have some sprites? |

Yeah, I'm gonna try to have cherries, but that won't be until after the main game engine is completed. I still have to get the food sprite so Pac-Man can eat the ghosts. That is what that snack sprite in my last post was, but it's not good. Thanks for the help. I'll be keeping in touch about this game alot. |

Your routine will be using the pixel or point command? I think it would be easy to use point and you could easily make the map with a point routine instead of using a picture (if you are). |

I am using a pxl-On command for the sprites and for the stage design, I am using one for loop and line() functions. How would it be easier to do the map with point functions? |

[post="75307"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post] Yes, but the actual environment doesnt change. The ghosts get faster and stay edible for less time, you get other fruits, but it looks the same.
except for lvl 256 (0):

use point-On instead of pxl-On because it uses the same coordinate system as Line(. pxl-On uses the same coordinate system as text( |

Pt-On is a lot slower than pxl-on. |

Woah, I don't think I'll do that with my game! But, I'm about done with my new stage. I had to delete the old one, because the 5x5 sprites wouldn't work in there. Some paths were 4 pixels wide, some 5, some 6. It is all even now. Everything fits perfectly on the screen! Since the sprites are 5x5, I made the spaces in between everything 5x5. I was scared when I was doing my map, because I thought maybe there would be 4 spaces left at the end of the screen instead of 5. I would have to go back and re-adjust some things. Here is a pic of it. I'm finally done with it:
EDIT: When I said that, I was talking about the spitscreen mode up there.

Just for clarification purposes, Pac-Man had one level layout but increased in difficulty. Ms. Pac-Man would use the same layout for the first two levels, then used a different layout for three levels, and I'm not sure beyond that...
So even if you don't have different layout designs, it would be awesome to have the cut scenes that appeared in Ms. Pac-Man. |

Ms. Pacman rotated between some amount of levels recurring throughout multiple acts or scenes(I believe so). My youth pastor is really good at it. |
