On the 83+, you cheat:

X = 1.02^20000
log(X) = 20000 * log(1.02)

If you put the RHS of the last equation into the calculator, you'll get approximately 172.003435238. This means that X = Y * 10^172 where 1<Y<10.

log(X) = 172 + log(Y) = 20000*log(1.02)

log(Y) = 20000*log(1.02) - 172

[KA-calculator!]

log(Y) = 0.00343523835

Y = 10^0.00343523835 = 1.00794129475

Therefore X = 1.00794129475 * 10^172

Note: by log() I mean the base 10 log, equivalent to the log( function on the 83+.

In general, to calculate A^B to a high power, you can use the formula

Code:
10^(fPart(Blog(A -> mantissa
int(Blog(A -> exponent
