i was going through the ticalc profiles, and a few things caught my eyes.
1)http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/170/17075.html
the author says that this is a two color game... and that he manipulated the lcd to show some slight colors. (yellow blue)
(however it froze halfway)
2)http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/182/18214.html
plans for a color screen?
is it posssible to code the monitor to show rgb colorings??
its quite impossible, but the gentle portuguese lady in the plans says so. |

The first program is just turning up the lcd all the way which makes it appear two colors. The second I wouldn't do as it would murder you batteries and why would you need that just get a pocket pc or tablet. |

I really wish people would quit advertising that stuff as color when they're really just optical illusions or LCD overheating.
To clarify, this isn't a color screen, it's "colored backlighting." The colour Display.txt plans were anything but extensive. The linkport is fast enough to support color mixing, and in fact, it resembles a common technique used with RGB LEDs to get virtually any color in the spectrum, not just the 8 listed in the text. Having only 2 link lines makes it a little tricky, but its been done in a ~similar project here. Definately possible with the linkport. |

Well, it IS possible to turn a calc screen blue, but not recommended, as it can burn out the pixels. Truely the Blue Screen of Death. Don't, under any circumstances (unless you're trying to murder a calc) run a blue LCD program from ticalc.org, or anywhere. |

But if you're trying to make a screen in even 8 colors, using three color masks, one each for r,g,b, the LCD latency makes it all come out to a muddy brown. I had hoped for this, but unfortunately TI's sucky LCD got in the way. |

I ran the BSoD program on an old calc overnight.
It still functions properly. |

Yes, as far I've seen, there's never been a successful display that worked by RGB'ing the entire display. Plus the back panel is blueish green, and wouldn't look right. |

Really? I've always heard that blue LCD programs broke the screen. Oh well. |

When used extensively, I believe. |

It just burns the LCD screen if used to often. |

14 hours... that should be extensive enough.
I'll keep it running longer to see how much I can push it.

I have found that running it on my 84+se (probably with a different, albeit crappier, lcd) it turned the entire screen blue, while on an 83+ it turned on a single row. In both cases I had them running for almost a minute straight without any damage. |

Another night and the calc is fine. I'm beginning to think this is a myth... |

Maybe. I've just heard that a lot. I've never tested it, though. |

I oly saw the BSoD once, due to an error in my basic.
This could be a myth for the advanced programmers, as program lag is a myth to newbies... |

This bluescreen stuff is like the Game Gear commercial where the guy smacks himself with a dead squirrel to see color on his Gameboy.
