well, i've been thinking about this
but what if you can somehow configure a program in the ti calc and make it so that you can actually go on aim or msn?
the wireless connection can be made by a wireless usb connected by the usb input in the calculator
it might take some time.. but who doesn't?
Smile
lets try this

I'd be amazing if you could get a wireless USB internet adapter working with the calc.

One thing, though: "hack"

This might help you out. Don't know, though. I have never looked at it closely.

I don't see why the term "hack" shouldn't apply. For instance, emulating an operating
system on a different one is called a hack. Why not an IM client on your calculator? Smile

you have to get usb to mini usb adapter.

Then you have to figure the protocol out, try to send 1 byte over first. Maybe try looking through the source of open source IM clients.

Would the processor even be able to handle Wi-Fi? On my computer it takes up 5% of its power, although it is transferring much more data.
Make sure the router is open though, there's no way the calculator could handle encryption on the fly.

Ok, here is what we got to know for this project.

1) What are the standard protocols for a USB wireless LAN converter.
2) How do we communicate with the USB port on 68k asm languedge (Because, all I know of, is the USB port was "cracked" on the TI-84+ which is a z80)
3) How does a standard Wireless Network work? (I think we may want to use regular LAN first, because it would be a good start.)

Thats all I could think of, sounds very pratical though.

I'd love it if someone would just take a flash drive, hook it up to a mini-USB adapter, and create a calculator driver. That would be awesome...

I want this project to be done for the TI-89Ti TI-92+ and the V2000 (or whatever, the ones with the 68k processor...)
